Charles Bendy Obituary

Charles Ray Bendy of Colmesneil Texas passed away on April 28, 2024. He was 75 years

of age.

Charles Ray was born on March 25, 1949 in Colmesneil. He was the first-born son of Ray and Norine Bendy.  He graduated from Colmesneil High School in 1967. While in school he was involved in many sports and FFA. He also worked the summers as a lifeguard at Lake Tejas. After graduating he attended SFA for a while. He worked a few small jobs as an equipment operator, and some other part-time jobs before setting his sights on law enforcement. He started his career in law enforcement in Tyler County as a deputy from 1974 to 1979 later working in Hardin County from 1979 to 1982, finishing his law enforcement career for the City of Silsbee

in 1983.

After leaving law enforcement he spent the rest of his life as a heavy equipment operator working under Local Union 450. Except for a short period when he worked for country music legend George Jones from 1987 to 1988 at Jones Country Music Park.   A hard-working man who was stubborn and prideful.  He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.

His loves in life were horse trading, hog hunting, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

He loved old westerns and old classic country music. He enjoyed gambling and there wasn’t much he wouldn't bet on.  He raised six kids in his life, where the boys couldn't be tough enough and the girls could do no wrong.  He was a good father, a great friend but an awesome grandfather, better known as PaPa B.  He was also cherished, by his nephews and nieces.

Charles Ray is survived by his younger brother Rodney and wife Melissa of Chester.

Sons, Allen Eddins and wife Tami of Silsbee TX, Scott Eddins and wife Kelly of Colmesneil TX

Bo Bendy and wife Wendy of Colmesneil TX, Clay Bendy and wife Jackie of Colmesneil TX

He also had numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
