Carla Cathleen Couch Fowler passed away on July 15, 2024 in Greenbrier, Arkansas. Carla was born on April 6, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas. She was proceeded in death by her father, William Carlton Couch, her mother Fannie Vera Adams Couch, and her brothers Ted Glenn Couch and Junious “Jim” Couch.
She leaves behind her son, Chris Galloway and wife, Christina. Granddaughter, Ashley Jahnsen and husband Joe. Grandson, Caleb Galloway and wife Jessica. As well as her sister-in-law, Vallie Couch, niece Glenda Boe and many family members that she loved dearly.
Carla’s life had two distinct phases, Before Chris and After Chris. Before Chris she loved horses. She took piano lessons, a wish her mother had, in exchange for having a pony. Piano didn’t stick, but horse riding did. She later became an accomplished “cutting horse” rider and was a proud Texas Cowgirl. Her strong extraverted personality allowed her to make friends easily (she never met a stranger) and she would speak of fun times at The Big Oaks Dance Hall. After Chris she devoted herself to raising him with all the love she had. She drew much closer to Christ and loved to Praise the Lord! Being a single mom, she had to be strong, and she was. She left Texas and her entire family and moved to Arkansas with very little, not even a car, so that Chris could be near his father. Carla found working success at Beverly Enterprises and provided a good life. Later, Carla would return to Texas to work for Watson-Sysco. She retired in 2006 and moved to Greenbrier Arkansas to be near her son and his family. She adored her Grandchildren, Ashley and Caleb, always careful to take lots of photos with them. Carla always loved to give the gift of joy. Nothing brought her more happiness than to see the excitement and genuine appreciation in the eyes of the recipient. During her retirement years she loved the company of her dog “Mercy Me” and had a passion for gardening as she served as a Master Gardner.
