C. L. Burchert

Courtney “C.L.” Lawrence Burchert, 79, of Woodville passed away May 14, 2022.

Born July 25, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Larry and Sylvia Burchert, he lived in Woodville for many years.  C.L. was a retired contractor and a Navy Veteran.  He loved everything having to do with cars and could be found working on real automobiles outside his home.  He and his wife JoAnn were always helping others in Woodville whether taking in someone who was hard on their luck or anything else that was needed to make someone’s life better.  A practical joker, he loved to laugh and loved 50’s music.   He sang in church as well as barbershop quartets over the years.

C.L. was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Sylvia Burchert; beloved wife, JoAnn Burchert; son, Christopher Burchert; sister, Darlene Cook; brother, Keith Burchert and his wife, Darrel Burchert.

He is survived by his loving children, Wendy (Jim) Yeomans, Jeanette (John) Scarcelli and their daughter, Tea, Rick (Suzie) Wooldridge and their children, Shelby, Corban and Robert; siblings, Marlene (O’Neal) Ivester; brothers-in-law, Kenny Irwin and Arlen Cook; close friends, Gale and Charlie Evans and Pastor Randy Herrington; numerous nieces and nephews along with his church friends from Hopewell First Congregational Methodist Church and Woodville United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Randy Herrington officiating.  Burial will follow at the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville.  Visitation will be held Friday from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank his niece Rhonda Cook Trevino for being with him in his final moments.
