Billy Joe “BJ” Waller, age 84 of Nederland, TX passed away in his home on July 24th, 2021. He was a graduate of Nederland High School in 1957. BJ served as a Unit Operator at Unocal for 35 years before retiring. He also served our country as a member of the National Guard.
BJ was loved by so many and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had an infectious and caring personality that was never more evident than when he spoke of his family and especially his granddaughters that he loved so much. They all were his pride and joy.
BJ loved the outdoors and really enjoyed family vacations, fishing, hunting, and going to the races. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and his love of classic cars was obvious to anyone that knew him.
BJ is survived by his loving partnerBetty Jo Watson of Sabine Pass,faithful furry sidekick “Blackjack”, sisters Betty Ruth Stanley of Nederland, TX, Brenda Joyce Foster and brother-in-law Gary of Temple, TX, son Kevin Waller and daughter-in-law Lisa of Houston, TX, daughter Cindy Miller and son-in-law Sean of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Jessica Logan Wood of Colorado Springs, CO, Ann-Marie Landry and husband Devin of Port Neches, Alexandria Jordan Scott of Nashville, TN, Shelby Nicole Overby and husband Chris of Magnolia, TX, Emily Ann Waller and fiancé Blake Coleman of Georgetown, TX. He is also survived by Leslie Gallegos Borchers and husband Zenya of Melbourne, FL, Chad Gallegos and wife Leigh Ann of Beaumont, TX, Amber Gallegos of Nederland, TX, Ty Meyer of Melbourne, FL and Valentin Borchers of Melbourne, FL.
BJ is preceded in death by his father Henry Waller, mother Gussie Waller, wife Judy Waller,daughter Jeri Lynn Wood, and brother-in-law Alton Stanley.
We celebrate his life at 11am on Saturday, July 31st at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, TX. Gravesite service will follow at 2pm at Ryan Chapel Cemetery in Diboll, TX and a Post Gravesite Gathering at Cotton Patch Restaurant in Lufkin, TX. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. We are all so lucky to have had BJ in our lives.
