Billy Gallander Obituary

 

Billy Wayne Gallander, 81, of Colmesneil passed away September 10, 2020. He was born in Carthage, Texas on February 13, 1939 to the late Lonnie V. and Era BelleJolly Gallander.

 

Billy was a member of First Baptist Church Colmesneil and Nederland Masonic Lodge 1368 AF AM. He proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves and the United States Navy from 1955 to 1963 serving the majority of his time on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He retired from Unocal after 34 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his tractors and he loved animals, especially his old cat, Buckethead.

 

He was the loving husband of Bertha Rae Gallander for 60 years, cherished father of Paula Wyrick and husband Rick of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Gary Gallander and wife Kristi of Nome, Texas, Brent Gallander and wife Amy of Nederland, Texas, devoted grandfather to Gina Butcher, Stewart Gallander, Justin Gallander, Jack Wyrick, Payton Gallander, and Kate Gallander, and proud great-grandfather to Easton Gallander. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth Gallander, Johnny Gallander, Vernon Gallander, and sisters Imogene Gallander Dunn and Bonnie Sue Gallander.

 

Serving as pallbearers are Stewart Gallander, Justin Gallander, Jack Wyrick, Garret Wheat, Rick Wyrick and Dale Dunn.

 

Funeral service will be held Monday, September 14, 2020, 12 pm at First Baptist Church Colmesneil with Brother Brian Givins officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2020, from 11 to 12. Burial will follow at Colmesneil City Cemetery.

 

Services are held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County
