Beverly Harvey May, 91, of Woodville passed away January 14, 2024.
Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 2, 1932, to Franklin and Ila Mae Harvey, she attended college at Oklahoma State University where she met the love of her life, Jack May, and married him to start the most beautiful adventure lasting over 65 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Hilltop Baptist Church in Woodville.
She stayed home and raised their five children. Beverly loved her children and was involved in many of their activities. These activities included numerous church programs, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and several other organizations. She was a true example of love by putting everyone’s needs before hers. When they were older, she then returned to school attending Lamar University where she graduated with honors with her teaching degree. Beverly taught elementary school in Newton, Tx for ten years. She then retired from teaching to care for her mother who had Alzheimer’s.
Beverly was a God-fearing Christian who was a member, along with her husband Jack, of the United Methodist Church in every town they lived in throughout the years. She was involved in several church groups and sang in the choir. She also played the piano for several years at Curtis United Methodist Church.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Ila May Harvey; husband, Jack May; two sisters, Nancy Harvey and Birtie Logston.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey May of Louisiana, Richard May of Orange and Brian May of Woodville and wife Casey; daughters, Karen Wilson of Buna and husband Jeff, and Celia Upole of Ohio and husband Phil; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
Memorials in our loved one’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gideon’s Bible Association.
A memorial service to celebrate Beverly’s life will be held at a later date.
