Betty Willis Obituary

Betty Lee Willis, 91, of Shenandoah went home to be with her Lord on December 24, 2021 while surrounded by her family. Betty was born April 4, 1930, in Beaumont, Texas to Grace and David Lee. A graduate of Vidor High School, she was a long time resident of Jefferson and Tyler Counties. Betty spent her life devoted to her family and to serving the Lord. She and her husband, Bo, were founding members of Calvary Baptist Church in Nederland. A faithful servant of Christ and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, everyone she came in contact with just fell in love with “Ms. Betty”.

Betty is survived by her son in law, Larry Shine of San Augustine; granddaughter Christina Shine of Spring, grandson Justin Shine and wife Nadia of Galveston, and granddaughter Crystal Dowd and husband Bryan of Spring; 5 great grandchildren, Taylor and Kayleigh Dowd, Scout Shine, Jacqueline Morin and Samantha Young; her sister Shelley Baxter and husband Benny of Port Neches; nephews Fr. Shane Baxter, Cody Baxter, Benny Clark and Gale Willis, and nieces Shawna Proctor, Cindy McDaniel and Karen Smith.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother Grace Reeves and father David Lee, her husband of more than 50 years, A.E. (Bo) Willis, and her precious children, Alpha Willis Shine, Daryl Joe Willis and Emily Cecile Willis.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at  11 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Shine and Father Shane Baxter officiating.  Burial will follow at the Allison Cemetery in Warren.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 5 pm until the 7 pm at the funeral home.
