Aubrey Cherry Obituary

Aubrey Lee Cherry gained his wings to heaven Wednesday night on November 16, 2022 at 9:00 pm with his loving family around him.

Aubrey was born and raised in Camden, Texas on November 23, 1934 to Horace Cherry and Audvie Matthews Cherry.  He would tell us about running from school to home at lunch and get back in time for baseball and tore across town.  He spent his early years helping Aubrey Bradley deliver ice and milk into homes.  Later he began to deliver groceries to people in the community.  He later began working at Hardwood Mill for $1.00 an hour, 48 hours a week (no overtime).  His first work day at the mill, he was only able to work 2 to 3 hours because Aubrey Cherry, Jr. was born on that day.

His family was his life.  He loved his grandbabies and great grandbabies!!  He loved to hear them sing.  Easton and Dallie sang “Jesus Loves Me” on his last day.  Aubrey was a member of the Barnum First Baptist Church for 54 years, was an active and devoted Deacon and served as a Sunday School Teacher.

Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Preston Cherry and his wife, Pat; brother, Burbe Cherry; sister Dener Mae and Glen Foster.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jozell “Sis” Cherry of Chester; sons, Aubrey Cherry, Jr and wife, Patti, Dwight “Possum” Cherry, Patrick Cherry and wife, Rhonda all of Chester, Joe Don Cherry and wife, Crystal of Kountze; daughter,  Tina Walker and husband, Terry of Chester; grandchildren, Matthew and Kacee Walker, Amber and Cody Kosina, Wesley and Karlee Walker, Justin Cherry, Austin and Shelby Cherry, Cory Ferguson, Tyler Cherry, Kaitlyn Cherry, Fallyne Cherry and Kamdyn Cherry; great grandchildren, Coltin, Cainan and Copen Kosina, Gunner, Brynlee and Easton Walker, David, Daven, Conner, Brantley, Jackson and Dallie Walker, Ellyanna, Jackson and Scarlett Cherry, Wyatt Cherry and one on the way; special sister, Belinda Byron; special adopted grandchildren, Delana Vinson, Ethan Vinson, Mitchell Hoot; special nieces, Stephanie Wade, Erynn Garcia, Benita Citrano, Pam Vinson, Jeannie Johnson and Chryl Pounds
