Arie Lee Bean was the second child of ten children born to Aaron Bean and Sudie Mae Scott Bean in the Shady Grove Community of Tyler County, Texas, on January 30, 1937. She was educated in the Tyler County Public Schools where she excelled in academics. Her extracurricular activities included serving as a member of the Scott High School Drill Team and participating UIL competitions.
On May 26, 1956, Arie Lee was united in marriage to Rev. Lester Mitchell and to this union, six children were born.
She later married Morris Taylor (deceased).
She joined church at an early age at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Tyler County, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Harry Bean. In her later years, she joined the Springhill Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. She served as Chairperson of the Pastor’s Aid Committee, on the Mission Society, and on the Usher Board. Her civic affiliations included The Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Theo, Robert Ander, & George, and one sister, Susie Marie Bean Piper, and the father of her children.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters Glenda (Cecil-deceased) Mitchell White (Beaumont), and Linda (Charles) Mitchell Seals (Beaumont); sons Lester James (Lona) Mitchell (Beaumont), Ander Nekita Mitchell (Austin), Kenneth Lee Mitchell (Houston), Thomas Aaron Mitchell (Houston), and Special Grandson Aaron Mitchell (Woodville); sisters Isabella (Carl) Mason (Beaumont), Ruth Barclay (Woodville), and Francis Brewer (Beaumont); brothers Clarence Bean (Woodville), and James (Peggy) Bean (Woodville).
She also leaves the legacy of a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 12 pm at the First Baptist Church in Woodville with burial to follow at the Moss Hill Community Cemetery near Woodville. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 10 am until the time of the service at the church.
