Alethea Eurania Craven, 73, of Woodville passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.
Born January 17, 1948 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Charles and Wilma Simmons, she lived in various parts of Texas before moving to Ivanhoe 11 years ago. She was retired from Chevron as an Administrative Assistant. Alethea was the organizer of the FOI in Ivanhoe and was heavily involved in the many activities in the City of Ivanhoe. She enjoyed reading, playing games on her phone, bowling, Michigan rummy, crochet and playing dominoes. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Alethea was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Simmons and Wilma Jean Munday Simmons; daughter, Malissie O. Taylor; a grandchild, Lil David Wallace; father-in-law, John R. Craven.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, John R. Craven; son, William K. Gaines; daughters, Crystal B. Wilson and Lynn Craven; sister, Roxanna L. Gaines; brother, Thomas D. Easler; sisters-in-law,Lottie Kay McCulley and Nancy Craven; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 3 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2 pm until the time of the service.
Flowers are greatly appreciated but donations made to the American Cancer Society or the First Baptist Church in Woodville in our loved one’s name will be a blessing.
