Agnes (Aggie) Smith, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2021.
Aggie was born on May 28, 1928, to William and Lula Heitz in Chicago, Illinois. She raised her family, five sons and a daughter, and worked as a well-respected nurse's aide in the Chicagoland area. Later she relocated to Texas, where she indulged her love of country-western music and met her soulmate, Earl Smith.
Married in 1983, Earl and Aggie built a rich life filled with joy and adventure. Together, they loved traveling, camping, cooking, volunteering with church and local charity organizations, and building their beautiful homestead in the community of Ivanhoe. Most of all, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hosting them for birthdays, holidays and outdoor cookouts.
Preceded in death by husband Earl, sons John Riley and Bob Riley, and daughter-in-law Maggie Riley, Aggie is survived by son Jim Riley and his wife Virginia, son George Riley and his wife Jeanne, son Larry Riley and his wife Karen, daughter Linda Singleton and her husband Charlie, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who adored her.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 9 am until the time of the service.
