Doris Jeanette Sims

Doris Jeanette Hammonds Sims, age 79 of Houston, Texas passed away on December 14, 2019. Doris was born in Beaumont, Texas and grew up in Houston in the Denver Harbor area. She married the love of her life, Raymond Glenn Sims in 1961. Together they had five children – Robbie Little, Mary Carter, Rachel Garza, John Sims and Mayme Kittman.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Ruby Hammonds, her daughter, Robbie Little, her son John Sims and her brothers – Leonard, Douglas and Jimmy Hammonds.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Mary Carter and husband Billy Carter, Rachel Garza and husband Freddie Garza, Mayme Kittman and husband Shane Kittman, along with her grandchildren, Billy Anthony and wife Rina Anthony, Corey Little and wife Shasta Little, Tara Mathiews and husband Rafe Mathiews, Casey Little, Travis Sanders, Mandi Welle and fiancé Evan Velazquez , Faith Sanders, Kala Kittman, McKenna Kittman and fiancé Wyatt Bachelier, Duran Kittman, Jacob Sims, Tiffany Carroll, Kristin Scholwinski, Justin Scholwinski along with great grandchildren Brayden McCrary, Wade Mathiews, Arlo James Mathiews, Xander Little,Axel Little, Garrett and Nolan Anthony. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. 

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Grace Care Center of Katy for the loving care that she received during the last few years of her life. 

The funeral service will be held on December 18, 2019 at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas (address 913 U.S. Highway 190 W. Woodville, TX 75979). Visitation will begin at noon followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Graveside service will follow immediately after at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery located just south of Woodville, Texas
