Della Mae Kraus, 78, passed away November 13, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas.
Born in Crockett, Texas on February 14, 1941 to James Andrew Hammons and Rosie Lee McMeekins Hammons, she was the youngest of Eleven brothers and sisters, she lived her childhood in Kennard, Texas and attended Kennard High School. Della worked retail sales at Sears, Montgomery Ward and Wal- Mart before retiring. She loved reading poetry and western novels. Vidor, Texas was her home for most of her adult life and Della was a longtime member of East Gate Pentecostal Church in Vidor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Herbert Raymond “Bill” Kraus; son, Roger Dale Kraus; and nine brothers and sisters.
Della is survived by her son, Dudley Kraus and wife, Karen of Bridge City; daughter, Darlene Rush and husband, Ted of Vidor; grandson,, Michael Kraus and partner, Bryan Scherwitz of Austin; granddaughter, Rachel Doiron and husband, Matthew of Orange; great granddaughter, Saylor Nicole Doiron; sister, Elnor Lee of Bellville; sister-in-law, LaVoice Hammons of Porter and special longtime friend of 56 years, Irene Geoddertz of Vidor, Texas.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 18, 2019, at 12:30 pm at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be held Monday from 11 am until 12 pm at the funeral home.
